Cheryl Clark, Operations Director
Hailing from a civic-minded family, Cheryl has been knocking on doors for candidates since she was a toddler and ran a local political campaign while still in high school. Her love of politics brought her to DC as an intern for Senator Connie Mack. She went on to work for Governor Jeb Bush in Florida’s capital where she experienced firsthand the chaos that was Election 2000.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Florida State University, Cheryl went to work in the U.S. House of Representatives where she spent several years as a legislative aide. After her boss retired from Congress, Cheryl returned to Florida to help Senator Mel Martinez set up his Miami office. She then went on to serve as the head of government affairs for the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority.
When offered a political appointment by President George W. Bush, Cheryl returned to DC and served at the U.S. Department of Transportation under Secretary Mary Peters until the end of the Bush Administration.
At SMG, Cheryl uses the organizational skills and political know-how she’s developed over the years to ensure things at SMG run smoothly. In her spare time Cheryl can be found playing guitar, volunteering at Walter Reed and spending time with her adorable niece and nephews! She currently lives in Old Town Alexandria.
