What state received the most presidential political ad spending in 2012?

Florida received $215 million in Presidential advertising in 2012, making it the state with the highest amount of political ad spending during the Presidential Election. During the Primary Election, candidates and issue groups spent $24 million in Florida. During the General Election, candidates and issue groups spent $191 million in Florida.

• Orlando received $58.5 million (or 27.3%) of the total statewide spend
• Tampa received $57.2 million (or 26.2%) of the total statewide spend
• Miami received $29.5 million (or 13.8%) of the total statewide spend
• West Palm Beach received $18.4 million (or 8.6%) of the total statewide spend

Ohio received $206 million in Presidential advertising in 2012. Virginia received $157 million in Presidential advertising in 2012.

Over $1 billion was spent on political advertising during the 2012 Presidential Election.
